Hawa O ponders on free-will and predestination.
Why are there so many things predetermined in life?
Genetically, there is a few bunch of things already predetermined. Illnesses, probably IQ, and even hormone levels…
Genetically, you are predetermined to be either a Malay, a Chinese or a Mat Saleh, or whatever; from the day you were born. Then, other predetermined things will just follow wherever you go.
If you are a Malay, there are certain things you can’t do: this and that. It’s just the same for other races too. These sets of rules are not imposed on you by choice. Be it written rules or unwritten rules–the moment you set your eyes on this world, they are imposed on you.
Socially, where you were born, will decide how you would grow up. This will then decide what type of rights you will be given as a human being.
Human-made rights.
Which you don’t get to choose as well.
Just to give an example, if you were genetically-predetermined to get the benefits of a bumiputera, or an Australian aborigine… There will be no questions asked. You will just receive it.
So, basically you can say that your rights are predetermined by your genes. I think it is even more obvious in the case of gender.
It is far worse if you are brought up in some countries where there is moral policing.
For a lot of vices, if men were doing it: It will be perfectly fine.
Women doing it? Morally unacceptable!
Not to mention, your rights to your own privacy, is predetermined by where you live in.
“I can always move out,” I hear you say. But the same situation will still apply to the other millions left.
It is such a turn-off, if those rules and regulations have not a single shred of moral basis; or the “moral basis” is TOTAL BULLSHIT.
Just because it was written before, it is written now.
There is also another option…which is to fight for the rights that you want so badly. But will you win that right in your lifetime?
You might… But it will still depend on which country you live in.
See? Your lives are predetermined, but somehow, you do have a choice, you know.
Such an oxymoron.
