Are you sick of people trying to scare you with ghosts, toyols and creatures that can’t be seen?
Are you sick of snake-oil peddlers offering dubious cures for all in form of magical stones, magnets and herbal supplements?
Are you sick of tabloids and smutty rags covering supernatural anecdotes and the people reading them?
Are you sick of bomohs swindling helpless others and running away free committing crimes?
Are you sick of religious authorities holding the position of absolute knowledge?
Are you sick of being the odd one out for believing in science and trusting in reason instead of superstition and dogma?
We know we are. That’s why we started Unscientific Malaysia over ten months ago.
To those who just found out about us today, we welcome you to our enclave of rationality with open arms. Here, you will not be judged, and we hope you will find brothers-in-arms to ease your mind.
To those who have been with us over the times…we are back!
We have been taking a long break to think of ways to best continue our fight for reason, and to bring you this spanking new website. We even have a proper domain now…it has been a long way from when we started as a one-man blog back then.
This new site is still in its infancy and we are still working on the new features. We hope you can help us by letting us now how we can make this website better.
Among things that we have discussed together with the team is the general direction of Unscientific Malaysia. We have realised that we do not have the capacity to become an full-fledged online community. We also do not wish to stay stagnant as a commentary on Malaysian news which will not advance the rational community of Malaysia forward.
The best way to benefit Malaysians as a whole is to take a stance of advocacy. We will now also feature articles that will enlighten and guide on the topic of scepticism. With them, we hope to nurture a culture of inquiry, knowledge seeking and love of science.
We are not experts. We never claim we are. What we are is a place for everyone to converge, newbies and veterans alike. We aim to be the place where like-minded people can people can question, enquire and ponder rationally, without censure.
Let us spread the word. Let the reasonable know that they can seek refuge in Unscientific Malaysia, and together we will get our country and her people to free themselves from the shackles of the supernatural.
Unscientific Malaysia, here to promote science, scepticism and free-thought.
